This is what I saw when I drove up the driveway. That big pile of dirt is sitting in front of where the garage doors would be.
This video is George digging the front frost footers. George had his equipment all set up to level the foundation pad so the crews could get the footers all formed. Note the blankets in the trailerto cover the forms.
...and this is my favorite..... the sun peeking through the trees as it was setting.
NOW, on to Friday.....
When I got out to the site, all of the footers were formed and ready for concrete. Sadly, we can't get an inspection until Monday (bureaucratic red-tape) but will pour the same day - weather permitting.
This is the back wall, and George's head. He's moving the blankets so I can take a picture of the footers and the ground built into the footers.
and here is that footer with the blankets pulled back...
The footers here are all formed and covered.
This is the footers in front of the garage all covered up.
Here is the entire foundation (as much as you can see...) from the driveway. It's all covered up, and all the steel is all in place.
and my last picture is the total lack of buds on the trees..... :(
Hi, Barb. We were out of town for the past two days visiting family for Easter, and looking forward to coming home and checking out the blog. Great storytelling in those pictures and videos. It's difficult to gauge depth, though. How deep will the concrete be in those footers? We see its supposed to snow out there tomorrow. Hopefully that doesn't affect Monday's work.
ReplyDeleteBTW- how much longer is that driveway now? : ) We need to start thinking of a truck and plow. When you have a chance, can you also make a video showing the drive to the house from the road? Thanks for the update!
