Happy Monday....

Good evening! I didn't get out to the site today, but it was a busy day with or without me! George called the building department this morning, and scheduled to meet the inspector there at 9. He had to rush out there and strip off the blankets for the inspection - he pulled his shoulder in the process, but it'll heal. Anyway, the inspection went fine, the concrete was scheduled, the steel delivery was scheduled, and the concrete was poured by noon. It'll be stripped tomorrow afternoon and I'll get pictures. There were trucks all over the site today, so being out there (especially with all the mud!) would have been a hassle for them. I'll see if I can get pictures of the concrete pour on the buttress walls for you.

Once the footers are stripped, he'll get the walls formed, inspected the next day, and poured the next day. We hope to have the framers there by Monday (weather permitting).

Did I mention that I hate putting that caveat at the end of everything? (weather permitting) ...ggrrrrrrrr.......

We truly need the moisture, but I catch myself getting annoyed at these late spring snows. They happen EVERY year, but I still get annoyed. Do I somehow think they'll go away? Weird. I bought a bunch of tulips for my dining room table so I could at least pretend that it's spring, and George's sister in Oklahoma City sent a picture of her flower garden, which is already blooming. Did I mention .....ggrrrrr......

On a side (personal) note, less than one month to go before the birth of our granddaughter! You can expect pictures.

  1. Sorry to hear about George's shoulder; hopefully it's a relatively minor injury. Didn't realize that the walls were going up so quickly after the footers (concrete cures quick). Framers possibly out next Monday?! Guess we better start looking at airline tickets soon. Late winter storms sure can reduce or halt the budding. Those buds may be delayed further- looks like you're scheduled for more snow on Friday (...grrrr...).

  2. Thanks for thinking of George's shoulder. Very thoughtful..... He'll be fine, he just forgets sometimes that he's not 25 anymore. Yes, the walls are up right now! I have pictures and I will load today, but yesterday was tax day so I was a bit sidetracked. I took pictures of some buds when I was in town yesterday, but still none in Divide. The storm on Friday and Saturday is supposed to dump 2 feet on us....... ggrrr..... On a bright note though, the temperature will still be in the 40's and 50's so it will just be a sloppy mess, not a hazard. I prefer this sloppy snow to rain though, because rain just runs off into the ditches and roadways whereas the snow stays on the grass and is much more effective. I'll write more later!
