It's Saturday now..... Friday just seemed to slip away. I think I sat down in the early evening and next thing I noticed it was 1 a.m. - which to me isn't that late but I was wiped out. This crud is kicking my butt. This too shall pass......
It's been fabulous weather here, 60's on some days, but even today, which was sort of 'yucky', was 54 degrees. Still no leaves on trees, but it's gotta be close. The trees in the city (Colo Spgs) are leafed, so we're next.
Here are the pictures for today, remember that the window in the master bedroom had NOT been changed yet, but will. The trusses will be set on Monday, and I'll get pictures.
Here is the side view from the driveway, the kitchen side showing the area that will have the clerestory windows and the beam. Its a little hard to make out still but you should get the idea.

Here's the closeup of the tall rafter before they got the other side built.

Here is the same rafter from the other side, now with the shorter side built.

This is some interior wall framing. I sit here and study, but I'm not 100% sure where it is. I know it's from the bedroom closest to the driveway (north side) taken of the bathroom area, or so...

Here's a picture of the back of Richard and framing the interior walls.

Same with this one.... I can't decide if it's taken from the master bedroom of the bathroom and other bedroom? I think I need to take the pictures. George took these.

Here is the turn around that George built right out from your garage. When you back out of the garage, just back into this and then go. Nice feature. When I came out there for lunch, I didnt like driving into the non-driveway dirt - very muddy.

.....and as an after thought. I don't know if your kids are interested in playing ball (baseball, basketball, football, etc) but the Park and Recreation program in Teller County is really good. Dane plays in all the sports, and its baseball season right now. While you're here he has a game in Divide, if you'd like to join us. To people from the big city, it may seem a bit 'lame' but we really like that 'community' stuff. George plays on the men's team, which may have a game then, I don't know. Those are really fun. Half the town plays, and the other half goes to cheer. I haven't gotten the schedule yet, so I'll let you know if there's a game. or..... you may not want to at all, and that would be fine too.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day! (sorry no videos today)
Neat! So the rafters are first constructed at the ends and then the trusses will be placed between them to define the rest of the roof? I'm sure future photos will clarify, but just thinking aloud.
ReplyDeleteNow that the house is almost completely framed, it would be helpful to see zoomed out photos of each house side (esp. the east and south sides). We're struggling to visualize what guests would see of the front (when viewed from the street, or on approach down the driveway). We have your original hand-drawn house placement sketch burned in our heads, and ideally, the driveway will continue to the front corner (near the front door/steps) so visitors can appreciate the front architecture.
We're really happy to hear the Teller county Parks & Rec. program is so good and that the community actively participates. We can't wait to sign them up (soccer, etc.) and to see what we can participate in ourselves. Thanks for the invite- let us know day/time and we'll play it by ear as the schedule allows (we're bringing the two eldest munchkins with us on the trip).
